 Catastrophe (Channel 4, 10pm)

Series four picks up from where we left the couple, when Rob’s secret relapse to alcoholism ended in a dramatic car crash and a forced confession to Sharon. A new acquaintance becomes increasingly friendly with Rob, while Sharon Dabbles in a new hobby that could also see her on the wrong side of the law. 

Icons (BBC Two, 9pm)

This new series looks at the achievements and legacies of some of the most acclaimed figures of the 20th century, and then at the end of tonight’s episode the public will be able to vote for the greatest leader of the past century, who along with the finalist from the show’s other categories will be put through to the live final at the end of the series.

Trust: The House of Getty (RTÉ 2, 9pm)

New drama series. After the suicide of his eldest son, J Paul Getty Senior looks to the rest of his family for an heir to his oil business. With his other sons neither fit nor willing to fill his place, will the unexpected arrival of his plucky grandson John Paul Getty III mean that J Paul Getty finally gets the legacy he believes he deserves? 

Everybody’s talking about… Story of Yanxi Palace

Chances are, you’ve never even heard of the TV show Story of Yanxi Palace, but despite that, it was the most Googled TV show of 2018. Based on Zhou Mo’s novel of the same name, the Chinese period drama has been streamed more than 15 billion times, and was the most-watched online drama in China for 39 consecutive days. Initially available only through China’s equivalent of Netflix, iQiyi, this series is 70-episodes-long, and it has since been broadcast in 70 other countries including America. It hasn’t been aired in the UK or Ireland yet, but it’s definitely one to watch out for.

• Eco Eye (RTÉ One, 7pm) New series of the environmental magazine, tonight looking at the impact of pesticides and human activity on bees. 
• The Secret Life of the Zoo (Channel 4, 8pm) Cameras return to CHester Zoo, where Visayan warty pig Wendy is fed up with the attentions of male pig Jake and decides to escape. 
• A Little Bit Showband (TG4, 9pm) Series profiling some of Ireland’s showband legends. 
• Lorraine Pascale: How to Be a Better Cook (RTÉ 2, 7.25pm) Lorraine Pascale shows people with no kitchen confidence how to pull off an easy and impressive meal for friends and family.
